About the performance
Kaavadkatha – Maya is a collaborative performance inspired by the Rajasthani folk form Kaavad Katha. It is an attempt to bring Kaavad Katha to the performance stage. Maya is a piece which blurs the space between the real and imaginary worlds. Through various mythical characters set in different times and spaces, it takes us deep into our associations with our emotions and intellect. The main story branches out into various stories and characters and thereby weave a multi-layered narrative.
The performance is a result of an extensive collaboration between theatre makers, visual artists, musicians, and designers working together to create the world of Kaavadkatha. The stage comes to life with a performer accompanied by sixteen paintings, original music, masks, movement and poetry composing the theatrical interpretation of Kaavad.
