"Udhedbun" is a heartwarming yet comical exploration of love, relationship, and cultural clashes, along with raising the still prevalent societal issue of “Dowry”. The story revolves around Shruti, a vivacious and determined young woman who is head over heels in love with Baswaraj, a charming man from a different cultural background. Shruti struggles to convince her family, where each member is forcing their perspective onto her, which turns into an unnecessarily complex situation. As the narrative unfolds, the characters undergo moments of self-discovery, challenging their preconceived notions about love and tradition. The conflict is not just depicted by the characters. It’s quite evident among the actors too. They too had their points of view about it, which they navigated through the course of the play. The actors, embracing diverse roles, infuse the play with authenticity and humor, making the audience laugh and reflect on the universal themes of love and acceptance while exploring their points of view and struggles.Read More

Bravely Fought the Queen' by Mahesh Dattani is a day in the life of the Trivedi family - a particularly provocative day in the life of a distinctly dysfunctional family. A guest in the house unwittingly becomes the catalyst that unearths the almost otherworldly trauma heretofore swept underneath this home's intricate rugs. ‘A playwright of world stature’—Mario Relich, Wasafiri First staged in 1991, Bravely Fought the Queen created a stir with its disturbingly honest portrayal of the dysfunctional Trivedi family, confirming Dattani's reputation as a playwright at the top of his game. Unfolding at a relentless pace, the play provides an unflinching insight into the urban Indian milieu, throwing light on a wide range of issues—marital friction, sibling rivalry, sexual politics and the lies we often tell ourselves—before racing to a shocking finale. ‘At last we have a playwright who gives sixty million English-speaking Indians an identity’—Alyque Padamsee ‘Powerful and disturbing’—The New York TimesRead More
